The Haliwards 2015 presented by Investors Group Halifax, is a project designed to recognize incredible people from across Nova Scotia.  The project has been running annually since 2010 and is part of the core of the Atlantic Award Group. An award presented as part of this project is referred to as a ‘Haliward’.

The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia is a part of a national and international federation of Alzheimer Societies whose mission is to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias in addition to promoting the search for the causes, treatments and cures. They invest in outstanding Alzheimer research and provide valuable programs and services to the thousands of Nova Scotians in need. The Society relies on the generosity of donors, corporate supporters and volunteers to achieve its mission. Since 1983, they’ve been dedicated to providing help for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and their caregivers. That help comes in many ways.

Project Director, Alex Maine who attended the presentation of the award last week said:

“You have to admire the work that the Alzheimer Society does. They provide key services and support for those who need it. For many, their offerings are a lifeline for coping with their, or a loved ones disease. I think it’s important that we continue to support such charities and I hope the newly established government funding will continue and increase appropriately to fulfill more of their needs.”

In a statement to the AAG last week, Investors Group said:

“On Behalf of the Investors Group Halifax Office, I would like to congratulate the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Many of our consultants have both clients and family members that have seen the effects that Alzheimer’s can have on both the individual and their families. It is an honour to support an award that recognizes folks such as yourselves that provide so many services to these individuals and families at what can often be a very traumatic time.”
