It’s been exactly one year since we announced the return of the Haliwards for it’s sixth annual awards. Today we return not only to announce our seventh annual awards in Nova Scotia but an expansion as well.
We, the Atlantic Award Group, are delighted to announce a partnership with the regional offices of Investors Group. We have agreed to bring the success of our awards to the remaining three provinces in Atlantic Canada. The Haliwards were launched in late 2009 to recognize extraordinary people in the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. It soon grew to become a respected and prestigious provincial award. The success of the Haliwards and the growth of our original awards in the UK saw an eventual merger to create what you now know as the Atlantic Award Group (AAG).
As many of you know, we brought our award projects not only to Nova Scotia but to New Brunswick as the Brunwards and Prince Edward Island as the Isleawards. Both projects were trialed during 2013-2015 and both showed extreme promise. Investors Group saw the importance of recognizing extraordinary people, and thanks to their commitment, these projects will become part of our annual projects.
Not only will the awards in NB and PE be part of our annual schedule, we’re finally able to announce our long-awaited awards in Newfoundland and Labrador. These too will be referred to as Isleawards. Since the NL awards were proposed back in 2013, we have received hundreds of nominations in the province. These nominations have not been discarded and will be taken into consideration.
The awards will still be known by their ‘legacy’ titles but we’ll be referring only to the physical awards by these names. The projects will now simply be referred to as the ‘Atlantic Awards, Canada presented by Investors Group’.
We’re also pleased to announce the return of a ceremonial event on the east coast. We’ll be announcing details around the first ever Atlantic Award Conference in the early spring. It will be a night during the final quarter of 2016 to celebrate the recipients from across the region. We plan to make this an annual celebration which will rotate between the Atlantic Provinces. This years event will be held in Nova Scotia.
The AAG would like to thank the regional directors of Investors Group in Atlantic Canada for their commitment to our awards. We encourage the residents of the region to nominate the extraordinary in their lives by visiting http://atlanticaward.com/nominate
Further information will be made available in the coming weeks.
